I'm worried. Most of the names on that letter aren't even Jewish. This is a dangerous precedent. What if Americans start putting their own interests ahead of Israel's?

Israel's word, especially considering Likud power now in place, is summed up by the Likud charter, which
states clearly that the Palestinian land is given to the Jews by God, that Jews have therefore a natural right to settle there, and that the natives cannot have a fully sovereign state of their own.
"Their word" would be "we commit to long-term co-existence with Israel on friendly basis and renounce violence as a means to reconcile differences."
If they don't get there, then even a mid-range co-existence with the entire absence of shelling of civilians would be a good outcome.
Seems you mean, Witty, the Palestinians should just agree with the Likud charter. I fail to see how
anyone standing in the shoes of any Palestinian could possibly agree to live peacefully with the goals

So Julian, if what you sayh is true, what kind of state allows unarmed civilians to settle in the occupied areas, subject to attacks? Israel wouldn't be using their religious fanatacism to make shlimazels out of them, would they? Why that would be very, very wrong, almost like one Jew cheating or taking advantage of another.
