Ethan Bronner and Isabel Kershner, the two Jerusalem correspondents for the New York Times, are named on a long list of authors for the "Israel Hasbara Committee." David Frum, Krauthammer, Caroline Glick, David Horovitz, David Horowitz and Bob Dylan are also on the list. Mostly rightwingers. Dennis Prager, Efraim Karsh. Ed Lasky. The hits go on and on.
Kershner is an Israeli. She and Bronner are married to Israelis. Bronner’s son is in the Israeli army. Funny that some organization would say they put out hasbara!
The committee says it’s a voluntary organization, established in 2001, and that it’s dedicated to "disseminating truth about Israel and the Jewish people." Its credo:
THE ISRAEL HASBARA COMMITTEE is an entirely independent media voice that brings you new and highly relevant news, opinions, issues and information every day, five days a week, which relates in some way to the defense of Israel and her image. The Israel Hasbara Committee continues to be the source of many original insights, comments and ideas. www.infoisrael.net is the leading website of its kind in the world.

The list also includes Times men: David Brooks, David E. Sanger, Steven Erlanger, Steven R. Weisman, Thomas L. Friedman, David Ignatius…the company itself, The New York Times…and Dana Milbank.
I’m not seeing these names on the list, as of the time I am posting this. Did you guys actually see all these names from the NYT on the list? Because that would suggest the list was scrubbed pretty soon after you got word out.
It may behoove someone to dig around and see if there is a reasonably reliable net archive of the page, before it was scrubbed, assuming it exists. For the sake of credibility, if nothing else.
Chaos, you went here? link to infoisrael.net
Use CONTROL-F (WIN) or COMMAND-F (Mac) to search for the names.
They are there. (If it gets scrubbed, I’ve copied it.)
Weird. Okay, now I found them. Yeah, it’s two back to back name lists in alphabetical order and for some strange reason my search function didn’t find names on the second list. They could be in different HTML container objects or something that is baffling the search function. I could poke around and sort it out but I’m not really that curious.
Still, how legitimate and authoritative is this list? Who is Anthony David Marks, whom the website describes as the “Chairman Israel Hasbara Committee?” Is he actually someone of consequence, or is this just some lone gunman with a web site, and that’s it?
Of note, I found the Onion Staff on the list. All joking aside (yeah, that’s low hanging fruit…) what I suspect, possibly, is that somebody took the registration of two (or more) hasbara e-mailing lists and just dumped the self-identifiers from the email addresses into a web page. If that’s the case, it would explain in all fairness why there are a number of reporters and journalistic outlets appear on this list — it’s people who signed up just to get disbursements of raw information from a source (of dubious authority, one notes) and don’t necessarily have any interest in believing the hasbara, let alone forwarding it.
Bob got lost.
“…But there’s one thing I know
Though I’m younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.
And I hope that you die
And your death’ll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I’ll watch while you’re lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I’ll stand o’er your grave
‘Til I’m sure that you’re dead.”
Robert Zimmerman became Bob Dylan (after the great Welsh poet Dylan Thomas):
“My friends in the prison they ask onto me
How good how good does it feel to be free
And I answer them most mysteriously:
Are birds free from the chains of the skyways?”
Bob is actually an ‘admirer’ of the known racist rabbi Meir Kahane. Just google their names together and you get plenty.
In a 1971 interview, Bob Dylan made positive comments about Kahane. In Time Magazine, Dylan stated, “He’s a really sincere guy. He’s really put it all together.”
Kahane was designated a terrorist by the US govt, if memory serves.
Meir Kahane’s political party ‘Kach’ was banned even by the Israeli government!

Meir Kahane was a piece of human pollution. I celebrated his assassination.
Except that Kahanists by other names are now members of the Israeli government.
“In a 1971 interview, Bob Dylan made positive comments about Kahane. In Time Magazine, Dylan stated, “He’s a really sincere guy. He’s really put it all together.”
And gee, hadn’t a little something happened to Mr. Zimmerman which might have degraded his thought processes for a long time?
Anyway, if the Shoei fits, wear it, lest things go Arai!
That list can’t be official. There are too many errors.
Yeah, this is looking a bit like a shell game to me. Two relevant snippets from the home page:
And then there’s: “All original material © copyrighted by Anthony David Marks, Chairman Israel Hasbara Committee.”
Is this Anthony David Marks fellow anyone of actual consequence? I suppose that would answer our questions. I wouldn’t know.
It’s no wonder that “Jews” have constituted the majority of the population if each name is listed 2-3 times under different spellings.
Also there are two lists from A-Z, one after the other.
Probably taken over by this new group: America’s Voices in Israel “One of the most important, exciting, and effective hasbara initiatives.”

Even more bizarre, Israel has set up a remote radio studio in Israel so US broadcasters can broadcast from Israel.
Spoof? Satire? or what? Who put it up?
i think so…. funny!
Hey! What is my bube doing up there!!
There is a “Greg Garrison” a rightwing, somewhat unhinged small market radio talk show “host” in Indianapolis. He’s an attorney also who, while screaming about shrinking government and the general evil of government, has had all four paws in the trough doing collection work for either Marion County or Indianapolis.
Could someone direct me to a website [if there is one] that provides a side by side comparison of the legal discriminations which apartheid South Africa placed on blacks and coloreds and similar legal discriminations the State of Israel places on Palestinians [and others]? Such things as intermarriage; travel, employment, curfew, property ownership. I’m sorry to trouble on this I have searched with out success.
Thanks in advance.
Gideon Levy and Amira Hass are also on the list. Sloppy work. You really have to try harder.
Blankfort and Weiss aren’t the ones to blame for sloppy work. It’s whomever put the list together.
“Kershner is an Israeli. She and Bronner are married to Israelis. Bronner’s son is in the Israeli army. Funny that some organization would say they put out hasbara!”
I imagine Gideon Levy is married to an Israeli and Hass is an Israeli so by your reasoning they are spouting hasbara.
Haaretz should fire those hasbara merchants Levy and Hass immediately.
Gideon Levy and Amira Hass dont work for the NYT, nor do they function under the NYT ethics rules.
Nice ridiculous statement Julian, I don’t suppose you would like to look at the collection of the work produced by Kershner and Bronner, as opposed to Levy and Hass? No? I didn’t think so.
The Tel Aviv-based security and socioeconomic think tank Reut Institute’s report Eroding Israel\’s Legitimacy in the International Arena, submitted to the Zionist government on Thursday, has warned that Israel is “facing a draumatic assault on the very legitimacy of its existence as a Jewish and democratic state (another Zionist myth). The groups promoting this delegitimacy aim to isolate Israel and ultimately turn it into a pariah state“….

Excerpt from Statement of Independence of Israel (1948):
“THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open to the immigration of Jews from all countries of their dispersion; will promote the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; will be based on the precepts of liberty, justice and peace taught by the Hebrew Prophets; will uphold the full social and political equality of all its citizens, without distinction of race, creed or sex; will guarantee full freedom of conscience, worship, education and culture; will safeguard the sanctity and inviolability of the shrines and Holy Places of all religions; and will dedicate itself to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.”
–full social and political equality of all its citizens
–benefit of all its inhabitants
“sanctity of all religions”
I’d love to see an Israeli Aljazeera busting in on the scene and showing live streaming footage of EVERYTHING that’s happening on the streets of the holy lands.
“Hungary criminalises holocaust denial.” AP
Hate speech and incitement to violence against minorities is already a crime in Hungary, but the new bill adds “denying, questioning or making light of the Holocaust” to the penal code.
The Producers would have put the producers in jail had it opened in Budapest.
The AP piece continues “…but the measure may be unconstitutional.
Politicians passed the bill submitted by Attila Mesterhazy, the prime ministerial candidate of the governing Socialist Party, by 197-1, with 142 abstentions. ”
I look at that vote as a microcosm of where the world is in regards to this issue specifically (criminalizing any deviation from the official Holocaust narrative), but also Israel and the lobby in general. One person knows that the whole thing is ridiculous, and is willing to say so. 54 people are completely corrupted. And 142 people know the truth, but are afraid to say so for fear of lobby repercussions, so they just sit on their asses.
Simplistic, I know.
“Ethan Bronner” was on the “list” from June 2003 and is still on it (2/24 9AM NYC). (List used to be alphabetical by first names!) Look here
Whatever this list is, and whoever put it together, it looks like a good list of the “Good Old Boys [and Girls]” network — the framework for COERCION and THOUGHT-CONTROL and CENSORSHIP in USA today on matters Israeli. People who would be scared to entertain (or publicly express) a dissident thought.
Membership on this list should be DISCLOSED when people take public positions on matters Israeli/Palestinian.
C’mon, this is a timewaster, guys. The list of “authors” is not the list of “members” of the committee — it’s likely to be a pajama-wearing one-man website and that’s the list of people around the world that receive the dude’s daily mass email of hasbara.
I think this story is headfake . . . as opposed to the Weatherhead infanticide story, the fact that 14 more assassins were found in Dubai, and the rest of Jerusalem is being hastily cleansed of Muslims with Caterpillars as I type this.
I have to agree with Oscar. Without more information on who the Anthony Marks guy is, and if he’s got ties to anything at all, this seems like a red herring to me.

oh crap, Avi is teaching himself HTML!
