Act for Israel says, "Stop nuclear Iran!"
A group called Act for Israel tweeted this picture today with the line "Stop Nuclear Iran!"
Act for Israel says it states that it's "committed to representing Israel’s interests through the use of new media."
A lot of Israeli security types are on Act for Israel's "leadership" board, including Gabi Ashkenazi, the army chief of staff during Cast Lead onslaught. Also many Americans. From Sharone Levinson's bio:
Sharone is a proud American citizen... For the past few years, Sharone has been dismayed by the efficient and organized use of the Internet to spread misinformation and lies about Israel.
From Act for Israel's website:
Act For Israel is the leading digital platform for pro-Israel activism. We rely on the latest Internet-based technology to win the war on ideas. We believe that Israel has the right to live in peace and security, and that all people deserve the right to live in dignity. Our goal is to share this centrist position with a wide audience to correct misinformation, end demonization, stop delegitimization, and to give Israel a well-needed voice. Our goal is to share our centrist position with a wide audience to correct misinformation, end demonization, stop delegitimization, and to give Israel a well-needed voice.
Also there's this guy on the leadership of Act for Israel, Dan Goldman. Dan looks halfway reasonable. Does he want to nuke Iran?
Dan Goldman has over 20 years of experience in the technology industry building compelling consumer sites, services and products. He is currently the co-founder and CEO of WorldLive Mobile, a startup building cutting-edge mobile applications for fans and brands. Dan has served as CTO at Zedge – the leading mobile social network – that has grown to over 18 million registered users – and earlier for several major Internet brands including iVillage and drspock.com, where he built and launched multiple online properties.
Updated: This post originally said that Act for Israel was calling for nuking Iran. Paul Mutter and other commenters pointed out that it could mean that Act for Israel believes Iran is going to nuke Israel. I changed my headline. Though it's scare tactics, anyway you cut it.

I don’t get this. Is the pic suggesting that Israel should nuke Iran, or is the pic describing what will happen to Israel if Iran continues it’s nuclear program?
Either way, it’s sinister, hyperbolic and kind of funny that there’s yet another group been formed to defend Israel. Aren’t AIPAC, ‘Hasbro’ (I think it’s fitting. They manufacture things for people with infantile minds) and the others doing a good enough job?
What is this, some sort of fighting hasbara with hasbara?
The nuke pic is obviously meant to depict what will happen to Israel if Iran isn’t stopped. If I understand your headline, and I hope I’m mistaken, you are contorting this into a “call” to nuke Iran????
It’s an attempt to terrify Israelis and to put pressure on the Iranian talks.
Everybody needs to take it down a notch, dude.
The nuke pic is obviously meant to depict what will happen to Israel if Iran isn’t stopped.
right, it is absolutely hyperbolic fear mongering.
how does phil’s headline ‘terrify’ israelis? i think you were right at the beginning w/’sort of fighting hasbara with hasbara’. it’s just reflecting their preferred image and using it against them. besides, there are zionists who would like (and have suggested) to nuke iran. so they deserve the turnaround imaging.
Yeah, Annie, well you obviously didn’t see the original headline on this post.
It was something like “Israeli group calls on Israel to nuke Iran” and the pic of the phallo-fungus-nuke cloud
Thanks Phil for turning it down a notch. My BP peaked when I saw the original.
actually denis, the old headline is still embedded in the url. i think the text with the image (“Stop nuclear Iran!”) is purposely ambiguous. it is possible one could interpreted it either way in terms of what they were trying to communicate.
It is really a shame that at this important time MJ Rosenberg is not over at a major news site offering up information that may inform the masses and wake them up out of their controlled narrative induced slumber that will more than likely lead the world into a neocon war of choice which will destroy innocent iranian lives and cause untold financial chaos, but as long as the few can benefit from these wars i guess it will be full steam ahead, damn the torpedos.
forget msm, it’s up to mj rosenberg and the rest of us who know the score to get the word out by whatever means are available, which currently mostly includes the internet/alternative media + outreach to the public via rallies, marches, etc. but if one thing is clear, it’s that giving up is not a viable option.

Rice acknowledged that “there will always be some uncertainty” in determining how close Iraq may be to obtaining a nuclear weapon but said, “We don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud.” (source: everywhere)

Yep, this new Israel First group is conjuring up the mushroom cloud to bomb Iran same as Candi Rice did to bomb Iraq. If Americans were grown-ups, I wouldn’t be worried.
This ramping up of things is just another (relatively tiny) thing that, in addition to a whole lot of bigger things makes me rather suspicious that we are getting close to seeing an Israeli attack on Iran.
I never thought we were that close in years past, but I’d at least put the chances now at a good spit over 50%.
Netanyahu and Co. were beating the drums about it *very* hot and heavy at the beginning of the year—to the point where Obama’s people were out there openly saying they suspect a near-term strike are trying to restrain Israel from doing so—but then suddenly after Bibi meets with Obama around AIPAC time things oddly got very very muted on both sides. Indeed, with Israeli outlets suddenly suggesting that Bibi might be giving things a year or so and allowing sanctions time … much of which easily seeming designed to get Iran to let down its guard as much as possible.
Following clear Israeli leads/demands then what does Obama do on the eve of these present talks with Iran but start issuing what are surely unmeetable demands, all the while we skeddaddle as many of our folks out of Iraq as possible, and a second carrier fleet is quietly moved into the Gulf, along with alot of other naval assets.
Lots of evidence to me that Netanyahu, knowing Obama is at his weakest now before the election, told Obama they were going to attack, period, with Obama accepting it as a fait accompli, knowing that the U.S. is almost certain to get dragged in and thus setting up this round of talks with Teheran to fail as a casus belli for Israel to attack and the U.S. to support it.
Netanyahu goes home and gets ready, and starts to cool the war talk as much as possible to cool the Iranian’s jets as much as possible, and yet on the other hand in the U.S. starts to gin up the P.R. machine to support Israel after the mask is dropped and the bunker-busters are falling.
Hope I’m wrong, but it smells like hell to me. And if it happens Obama will be worse than Bush, amazing enough. At least Bush probably believed in his heart of hearts, genuinely, that Saddam had WMD and the country had to go to war.
Obama knows freaking well Iran has no weapons program; that even if it did it isn’t any serious threat to the U.S.; and that anyway pushing a Nuke-Free Mideast Accord is what is really in America’s best interest by a mile.
Thus, if he doesn’t at least openly oppose any Israeli strike and allows the U.S. to get dragged into same it’ll be utterly without sincerity or genuineness, and totally for Obama’s political benefit.
I almost feel for the guy given the screws that have been applied to him and what I suspect is/was his relatively non-tough nature. (And has anyone seen the close-up pics of him lately? Geez he’s looking haggard almost.)
Won’t help him though if indeed he folds: Taking us to war knowing it’s on utterly false grounds, is bad for us, and is entirely unnecessary …. One can hardly think of a worse civic crime for a Prez. of this country to commit.
Total insanity.
Lots of pushing to attack Iran by a Robert Kaufman at the 64th Univ of Colorado World Affairs Conference. Really like the guy (has a great sense of humor, a bit twisted but still funny) even though every chance he had he would repeat the common be afraid of Muslims, be afraid of Iran be afraid afraid. Lots of repeating of Islamophobia mantras. At this panel got to go one round with him during the question and answer session. Earlier he had said that in regard to sovereignty that the world needed “reliable, consistent” standards. (have what he said in my notes) He said some things about Darfur that I fully agreed with. In his opening he had used how Israel had bombed the nuclear facilities in both Iraq and Syria because they felt they were threatened. I later used those examples and said should those same standards be used by nations that feel threatened by Israel’s massive stockpiles of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons that are undeclared officially and go un inspected because Israel continues to refuse to sign the NPT. Also asked him how his standards apply to the Israeli military uses of force and abuse in the internationally recognized illegally occupied Palestinian settlements? He had opened the Israel gate…I went through. He stumbled a bit and summarized by saying that he does not agree on the same standards for all. Totally contradicted his earlier statements. Again I found myself liking Kaufman even though he was really throwing out the Islamophobia mantras (you could almost see him smiling inside knowing what he was saying was just to work the crowd).

How about Go Crazy for Israel and over react as much as you can. Stir up the fear, stoke the hatred. So so dangerous
“… to win the war on ideas”.
War on Palestine, war on Egypt, war on Lebanon, war on Syria, war on Iran, war on Goldstone, war on islam, war on Arabs, war on the UN, even war on poetry – and now ladies and gentlemen: “war on ideas”!
Yeah sure, you go right ahead, Sharone Levinson, you go right ahead and wage your war “on ideas” hahahaha!
‘Somebody’ out there is desperate eh. Flummoxed fools!
And one more thing, what’s up with this “centrist” bs? So like the zio libs wanna call themselves “centrists” now? So now even “centrists” wanna milk the nuclear fantasy?
So now we got centrist neocons and centrist extremists?!
“So now even “centrists” wanna milk the nuclear fantasy?” That has been the case from the beginning of the go get Iran drum beating over the last 10 years. The so called liberals like Heather Hulbert, Joe Cirincione (at the 64th Univ of Colorado world affairs conference) etc think somehow it is radical to be focused on sanctions against Iran. Sanctions based on what? Information El Baradei would not allow in the previous IAEA report on Iran because it could not be substantiated. The choices run from sanctions that hurt to attacking Iran. We have seen this picture before. One good thing that Cirincione did finally come out and say later on at another panel at the conference is that it is the very same people who lied the US into Iraq pushing for a military confrontation with Iran. He also went onto say that a military attack on Iran was a mistake.
Atzmon, at Veteran’s Today, has a very short, very interesting take on the nuclear issue – one that, frankly, I agree is likely, but haven’t been able to find the words to clearly articulate in a comment, here. Great graphic.
