Racism. Pure and pristine anti-Arab racism in the U.S. Why do they hate us? Because this is the most important foreign policy issue the US faces, and we are about to hear from a rightwing Jewish leader, but the Arab moderate making a case for Palestinian rights is denied a platform. MSNBC cut away from a segment of the speech just as Abbas was saying “another Nakba.” To what? To Andrea Mitchell talking to Dennis Ross about the need to attack Iran. What planet are they living on?
Oh and here is rightwinger Netanyahu getting his full speech aired…

Planet zio, of course. The US media is a full stop accomplice in the zionist enterprise, more so even than the sychophantic, ass-kissing US government.
Really, it’s the Arabs who should be asking “why do they hate us?”. Pretty much every day America and israel are killing either Arabs or moslems, have done so for years – since way before 9/11.
And don’t be so shocked, Phil, American zionist jews in the media always smother Arab (free) speech every day of the week – have done so since way before 9/11 too.
Oh yeah and btw I hear Arab TV stations were broadcasting both Natanyahy and Abbas in full.
And one more thing: I find the combination of zionism, plastic surgery and copious botox (read Andrea Mitchell) utterly repulsive and “savage” to behold. One of the main reasons I tore up my cable contract 4 years ago – too many ugly people saying too many ugly lies.
I feel sorry for mainstreammedia monitors like Phil Weiss – to have to watch that evil garbage day in and day out – man that really sucks when life’s so short.
Good point about anti-Arab racism in the U.S. But calling Abbas an Arab moderate is a bit of a stretch. Let’s not forget that he is no longer the elected President of the Palestinian National Authority. His term expired in 2009 and he now serves at the pleasure of the U.S. and Israel. If he were ever to do anything other than provide cover for their interests he would be gone in a jiffy. Let’s hope there is a special place in someone’s hell for people like Abbas. And frankly, I think giving either him or Netanyahu an international forum is absurd. But that’s the world we live in. We always let the sociopaths run our planet.
In al-Akhbar today:
“Palestinian Authority: Running Israel’s Guantanamo”

“Palestinian Authority: Running Israel’s Guantanamo”
That’s a popular sentiment, but the marching orders for the Palestinian preventative security forces to arrest persons who are planning violence came from the UN General Assembly in its 10th Emergency Special Session. UN General Assembly resolution ES-10/15 called on the Palestinian Authority “to undertake visible efforts on the ground to arrest, disrupt and restrain individuals and groups conducting and planning violent attacks”. The folks running Guantanamo can only wish for a clear international mandate like that one. link to unispal.un.org
The author and everyone else should be concerned about the arrests of 114 Hamas supporters from all walks of life. But at least a third of the inhabitants of the West Bank are members of Hamas or ardent supporters. The majority of them aren’t in any danger of being arrested or imprisoned by the PA.
While it’s possible that a few were actually planning violent attacks, its much more likely that they are the subjects of Palestinian political, clan, or even tribal grudges. Old fashioned government harassment of the press and political dissidents is much more likely to be the underlying cause than any motive connected directly to PA respect for Israeli policies or desiderata.
His term expired in 2009 and he now serves at the pleasure of the U.S. and Israel.
Actually he was re-elected as the Chairman of the PLO in 2009. FYI, the 1988 Declaration of the State of Palestine named the PLO Executive and Central Committees as the bodies that were responsible for the provisional government of the State until such time as the occupation comes to an end. The Palestinian Authority is an interim municipal government created by Israel and the PLO. The Basic Law 2003 did not alter the role of the PLO.
“Actually he was re-elected as the Chairman of the PLO in 2009. ” (Hostage)
Nobody is being critical of his presidency of the PLO, this is about the PA. His PA term ended in 2009, but Abbas says a provision in the unpromulgated Palestinian Basic Law (the constitution for the future state) extends the presidency by one year. Whether 2009 or 2010, Abbas’ term in office expired either way and he is holding on it only by the grace of the US and Israel for obvious reasons. One cannot accept the legitimacy of his having been elected president while accepting his illegitimate overholding of the office; can’t have it both ways.
Nobody is being critical of his presidency of the PLO, this is about the PA. . . . Abbas says a provision in the unpromulgated Palestinian Basic Law
The 1988 Declaration of the State of Palestine was promulgated. It explicitly said the PLO Executive and Central Committees were responsible for establishing the provisional government, or replacing it, until such time as the occupation ends. The 2003 Basic Law stipulated that it did not effect the role of the PLO.
As soon as Hamas launched their preemptive attack in Gaza against the Presidential security forces, the 2003 Basic Law became a moot court argument. Civil wars are never constitutional affairs and the parties concerned usually don’t hold valid elections until they are resolved.
“The 1988 Declaration of the State of Palestine was promulgated..
… As soon as Hamas launched their preemptive attack in Gaza against the Presidential security forces, the 2003 Basic Law became a moot court argument. ” (Hostage)
You’re not paying attention, Hostage, I said the 2003 Basic Law (the Constitution) was not promulgated; I wasn’t talking about the 1988 Declaration of the State. Although the 2003 Basic Law was enacted by the Palestinian Legislature, it’s still unpromulgated by the President’s signature until today. The Palestinians, especially Abbas & Company, are picking and choosing from it depending on which way the wind is blowing. There are instances when it’s applied and others when they are not because it’s not promulgated. Are you implying that because Hamas jumped the gun in Gaza, the whole of the unsigned constitution is now suspended, or does it apply only to items that concern Hamas, and the overholding of the Presidency by Abbas?
You’re not paying attention, Hostage, I said the 2003 Basic Law (the Constitution) was not promulgated;
Sure it was. The text of the Basic Law 2003 explained that was to be promulgated by publication in the Official Gazette. It was published in the Palestine Official Gazette, Special Issue No. 2, March 19, 2003. The original Basic Law was published in the Palestine Official Gazette, Special Issue, July 7, 2002. Here’s a copy see footnote 1. link to carim.org
Here are the amendments link to venice.coe.int
The Basic Laws and amendments were ratified by Arafat and Abbas in their capacity as Chairmen of the PLO Executive. The Introduction of the 2003 Basic Law stipulates that the Palestine Liberation Organization is the
sole legitimate representative of the Arab Palestinian people wherever they exist.
“What planet are they living on?” The Israeli lobby planet. Those cut over to Dennis Ross and Andrea Mitchell interviews on Iran is just more evidence about who controls what those cameras cover. No I lobby influence there. At least becoming more obvious to folks.
As Chris Matthews said to me when I challenged him in person on his lack of coverage on the I/P issue. Chris “I don’t control the programming”
So how is it that Chris Hayes is stepping out where none of the other MSNBC talking heads will go. In fact Al Sharpton corrected Chris Hayes when he stepped out of line during that panel discussion of the Jerusalem and God vote at the Dem convention.
Americans forbidden by zio master to hear or see moderate or smart Arabs.
BWTTGASO.

Which language was Abbas using? Arabic? Stations cut away from foreign languages. Which language was Netanyahu using? English. This is not racism, this is keeping fingers away from the remote control for an English speaking audience.
justifiable?
MSNBC is more interested in ratings than in an in depth understanding of the issues. Shocking!
What other excuses do you have? It’s obvious they just don’t care about what Abbas has to say.
When have concepts like the Nakba entered American mainstream TV, OTHER than as an afterthought.
Then again as a colonist yourself with family in the settlements, I’m sure you’re happy the Arab got squelched so we Americans can see a crazy Zio draw us a picture of a bomb. What a joke.
Cliff- ad hominems are not appreciated.
“Which language was Abbas using? Arabic? Stations cut away from foreign languages. Which language was Netanyahu using? English. This is not racism, this is keeping fingers away from the remote control for an English speaking audience.”
So you’re saying that cable channels have never used simultaneous translators? That if we look we will see that every speaker covered by the news was speaking English?
No Woody, I’m saying that a boring man like Abbas with English translation over his voice will drive many viewers to change the channel.
sociopaths like Bibi Milikovsky are always more telegenic.
The UN thoughtfully provides simultaneous translation for all those in attendance, into all the UN’s official languages, including, of course, English.
I recall many times watching on TV Security Council sessions when the station I was watching played the simultaneous translation of what the Russian and other delegates were saying.
yonah fredman says: “Which language was Abbas using? Arabic? Stations cut away from foreign languages. Which language was Netanyahu using? English. This is not racism, this is keeping fingers away from the remote control for an English speaking audience.”
It’s also suppressing the Palestinian point of view while presenting the Israeli view in full.
“Shocking!”
You sure MSNBC aired every minute of Netanyahu’s speech because it would bring them higher ratings? Could ownership have played a role? There are some things more important than money.
