Last week I posted on the kick off of a new website from Israel/Palestine called The Daily Nuisance. The post featured an incredibly striking photo of a Palestinian protester holding an enormous Palestinian flag jumping off the stumps of a destoyed olive tree in front of the Separation Wall. That photo was taken by Ahmad Mesleh. Mesleh is from the West Bank village Nil’in, which has been at the forefront of the protests against the Israeli Separation Wall which is stealing their land. Mesleh has helped document that struggle, like in the photo above.

Mesleh is trying to raise money to buy a camera to continue his work (he has been having to borrow one). We rely on photographers like Mesleh here on Mondoweiss to help tell a story that isn’t being told in many other places about what is happening in Israel/Palestine. Please help support his work, and help ensure that he is able to continue his important work.

There is an appeal from Mesleh after the jump:

Dear Readers, my name is Ahmad Mesleh I’m a young struggling photographer trying to tell the world what my eyes see and what my hart feels. Through my photos, I try to show the world what life under occupation is like, every picture i took tell you a story, am trying to photograph every thing , nature, sky, people and anything my eyes see and my hart feel . Right now, I don’t have a professional camera, I usually try to borrow ones. However, this means that most of the time, I do not have a camera and loose many opportunities to make great pictures.

Therefore, I’m asking for your help. If you value my photography and agree that it is vital to show the reality of life under Occupation, please consider donating a small amount of money that could help me buy a camera, even if you can’t keep support me in words and by your hart and i will be happy or if you have anythings or ideas you can mail me and share with me.

Supporting me also means supporting the Ni’lin youth Center, as we are planning to teach photography workshops to Ni’lin youth once we have a good camera. The youth in our village are very eager to learn about photography and media in order to have their voices heard. Thank you for your interest in my work and my blog.
