Here’s local coverage of a protest of tear-gas manufacturer Combined Systems Incorporated, in western Pennsylvania, on Martin Luther King. The focus was on the “less-lethal” weapons CSI sells to Israel.
The [teargas] product is banned for use during war by the Geneva convention. Monday, the Palestinian supporters claimed CSI sells that product to the Israeli military.
“These technologies are usually described as less lethal,” said Nigel Parry, of the Palestine Solidarity Committee in Pittsburgh. “They are not non-lethal by any means. In Israel, you often go to these demonstrations and clashes and see these used in ways that are contrary to manufacturer recommendations.”
The protesters don’t think the company should be doing business with Israel at all.
