Winter is coming and Palestinian refugees are especially vulnerable. But the int’l agency that provides for their needs, UNRWA, faces a huge deficit in funding. Last night, Israeli soldiers entered the West Bank city of Ramallah and raided a municipal library as nearly 100 Palestinian youth clashed with soldiers setting on fire tires and trash cans. Palestinians view Israeli army activities inside of the de facto capital as an escalation to an already tense few months.

Israel has managed to create a discourse that South African settlers would have been envious of, because it is able to exploit Jews in the Diaspora and the historical European persecution of Jews. Palestinians struggle to find a place within a narrative of liberation in part due to the impossibility of being a victim to the ultimate victim.

On Thursday Dec 10, 2015 over 800 members from the Arab community, Muslim community and human rights activists of New York City came together in solidarity for Syrian and Iraqi refugees to say no to the harmful racism, Islamophobia, Arabphobia, and Xenophobia towards the refugee community. People of all different faiths and backgrounds joined the rally, simultaneously there was a banner drop at the Trump Towers.
