A new video released by Adalah-NY: The New York Campaign for the Boycott of Israel features eight leading artists stating, “I endorse the cultural boycott of Israel.” The artists include Tony-nominated stage and television actress Kathleen Chalfant; musician Roger Waters, a founding member of Pink Floyd; musicians Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio; musicians Kool A.D and Tamar-kali; artist and author of Drawing Blood, Molly Crabapple; and visual artist Swoon.

After the tragic events in Paris on Friday where gunmen affiliated with the Islamic State or ISIS killed at least 140 in separate and coordinated attacks, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on world leaders to condemn acts of “terrorism” and “radical Islam” perpetrated by Palestinians, claiming “the terrorists who attack us have the same murderous intent as those in Paris.”

It feels hard to mourn in Paris for Raymond Wofsy because it is hard for him to separate the grief from French nationalism, colonialism, and Islamophobia.

IMEMC reports: Monday at dawn, dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, and killed two Palestinians, identified as Laith Ashraf Manasra, 25, and Ahmad Abu al-‘Aish, 30. Army sharpshooters also occupied the rooftops of several homes in the refugee camp and shot and injured 34 Palestinians with live rounds. 88 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since October 1st.

Settler Colonialism in Palestine is at its core transnational. It has always required institutional alliances on the military and economic fronts. Today, the US presence in Israel’s military and settler fronts, and its active financial and material support of both, is an unprecedented milestone reached by the Zionist movement. And because of this support, the US is directly implicated in the ongoing colonization of Palestine.

A rabbinical court in Jerusalem allows a woman who had intercourse with a non-Jew to marry non-Jews. The power of these religious courts over private life would be unimaginable in the U.S.
