Five years after the infamous arson attack that killed three members of the Dawabsheh family, one of the Israeli settlers responsible for the attack was convicted on Monday.

European leaders know that the Oslo process has failed. Will they step forward courageously and break the spell by speaking out against the continuation of the obviously failed policy? On May 15, Jonathan Greenblatt of the ADL reported a Jewish site in Iran was “set afire overnight.” The report was widely picked up, but looks very doubtful. Iranian media say an attack on the site was unsuccessful. Greenblatt has revealed himself as another ideologue in the campaign for regime change in Iran.

Israeli activist Yifat Doron took a stance of solidarity with Ahed Tamimi, icon of Palestinian resistance, by slapping a military prosecutor. And she will pay the price: 8 months in prison. Her sentence echoes Tamimi’s sentence for a similar action in occupied Nabi Saleh.

May 15 marked the 72nd anniversary of the Nakba, or the mass displacement of Palestinians from their homelands in 1948. This year demonstrations were smaller due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with Palestinians opting for smaller scale and online commemorations of the occasion.

I did not witness the beginning of the Nakba in 1948, but I am still experiencing it.
