Supporters of the embattled Iran deal in the U.S. will not win if they cannot identify the foreign country that along with its domestic lobby is still trying to undermine President Obama’s signature foreign policy achievement: Israel. Thankfully, the lobby itself is split over the deal.

The New York Times headline is, “Palestinian Kills 3 Israelis, Shattering Tranquillity at West Bank Crossing.” The definition of “tranquillity” employed by the Times is one-sided; it can only apply to the Israeli point of view, inside a bubble, oblivious to Palestinian suffering.

Bari Weiss, an opinion editor at the New York Times and longtime pro-Israel advocate, smears Linda Sarsour as a vessel for “hate” because she is anti-Zionist. Weiss is in a rich tradition of pro-Zionist advocacy at America’s leading newspaper, but Sarsour’s prominence is endangering that entitlement.

Bernie Sanders set the high water mark for what US pols can say about Palestine, citing 700,000 Palestinian refugees created in Israel’s establishment, in remarks to J Street Monday. He got a standing ovation from Jewish crowd when he said it is not anti-semitic or anti-Israel to criticize the Netanyahu government.

So who got neoconservative Elliott Abrams a meeting with Trump, and likely appointment as number two at State? The obvious answer is there is a segment of opinion that Trump wants to mollify. The Israel lobby, which even US nationalist Steve Bannon has made peace with.

Sgt Azaria is convicted of manslaughter in Hebron killing of March 24, 2016. Human rights organization B’Tselem says Palestinians are killed all the time by Israeli security forces and there is no accountability. New York Times and Washington Post leave this angle out.

John Kerry’s speech on Israel/Palestine today was a eulogy for the two state solution, some commenters said; while others said he laid down new criticisms of Israel with statement about “separate but not equal” residents of West Bank and saying “The settler agenda” is defining Israel’s future.

In extensive coverage of the UN Security Council resolution against settlements, the New York Times has quoted only four Palestinians. One article was headlined that the focus is now “back on Palestinians,” but quoted numerous Americans and Israeli voices, but only one Palestinian.

If a newspaper had produced the documentation of political corruption that Wikileaks provided in the last year, it would be up for a Pulitzer Prize. The media should stop demonizing Wikileaks and the Russians and focus on what we learned from the records.

Only Israel: Leading Jewish groups, including the American Jewish Committee, AIPAC, and the Jewish Federations, have not criticized Trump’s appointments of men who have promoted bigotry, because they do not want to alienate the president-elect on the only issue they really care about: supporting Israel. Though some Zionist groups have stood up for human rights in America.
