The New York Times continues to ignore Israel’s role in the Iran crisis, and gives David Petraeus a platform to call Iranian generals “personification of evil.”

Bret Stephens’s controversial and self-satisfied column about Jewish genius is of course about Israel. His ideas of cultural supremacy justify Palestinian oppression. When he says that the Jewish gift for original and highminded thinking has fostered…. anti-Zionism!

“Netanyahu should not be allowed to start a war with Iran to save himself,” Haaretz says. Why isn’t this report in the New York Times? Only friendly coverage of Netanyahu’s primary victory against a Likud challenger.

Benny Gantz was unable to form a “minority” governing coalition in Israel because members of his own party refused to work with Palestinian legislators. This racism ought to be widely known and denounced in American liberal Zionist circles, where Gantz is a hero. But it’s not. Israeli racism is sanitized once again.

Some have praised the New York Times editorial on the Trump executive order attacking the BDS movement for its defense of free speech. But like so much else in what the Times says about Israel and Palestine, it gives with one hand what it takes away with the other.

Tom Friedman’s double standard: Israel has a right to shoot demonstrators because that’s how Arab nations behave; but Iran doesn’t. Human rights groups have said Israel deliberately targeted civilians with live fire on the Gaza border though they posed no threat; but Friedman says it’s an “easy” call to defend those shootings.

The New York Times Jerusalem correspondent David Halbfinger hit a new low yesterday with his article contending that “a new group of Arab thinkers” want to abandon the boycott of Israel.

Alice Rothchild responds to a recent op-ed in the NYT about antisemitism within progressive spaces, “It is not possible to be a progressive, to celebrate human rights, gay rights, democracy, etc., etc., and then to have a different set of rules for Israel.”

The same paper that dissects every bigoted innuendo by Donald Trump somehow loses that ability when it comes to the political leaders of Israel. 

While the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that the killing of an entire family in Gaza was a “mistake,” the New York Times allows the Israeli military to explain that “civilian casualties are unavoidable in Gaza’s teeming neighborhoods.” And, hammering home the propaganda point, the paper says Israel “takes numerous precautions to prevent unnecessary civilian casualties.”
