I put out a request for the hummus recipe at Anna Baltzer's talk the other night in Kingston, N.Y. Here it is, from the maker, Pia:
I'm glad you liked my hummus and I'm glad to send you the recipe. Everything is approximate, as you like it, more or less.
1 can garbanzos
1 T. tahini
2-3 cloves garlic
1/4 lg .onion
2 T. olive oil
1 lemon, squeezed
1-2 t. cumin
1 t. dark sesame oil
parsley, salt, pepper
T. means tablespoon, t. teaspoon. All in blender, or such.
Next year in Palestine! Pia
I told Pia how much I liked her festive garnish, an orange island in a tahini sea. What was it?
Topping is whatever looks good. I used finely chopped Kalamati olives, red pepper and parsley.

T and t was obvious. But what does "lg" mean? Can anyone help a stupid foreigner. This isn't cup and it isn't pound.
My own commie adaption:
Wash, seed, and cut one red bell pepper into strips, douse in olive oil, little salt, roast 'til blistered, then pulverize in blender and add to the above.
lg would be large
Lime juice, powdered red sweet paprika, or cayenne paprika all make nice variations.
The onion and sesame oil are unusual, but perhaps that's the magic ingredients.
