beautiful Israelis

Hundreds came out in Tel Aviv today to protest the Israeli army's killing of Bassem Ibrahim Abu-Rakhma at the confiscatory wall in Bil'in yesterday. The protest was led by the non-Zionist Member of Knesset Dov Khenin, of Hadash, diversity party. Says Haaretz:

Participants carried signs bearing slogans such as
"Uniformed Killers," "Deportation Movement," "Arab Blood Isn't
Second-Rate" and "Blood Government, Get Out of the Occupied
Territories."

"The occupying forces have recently escalated their attacks on
demonstrators protesting the separation fence," rally organizers said.

The protesters talked about American Tristan Anderson too. And no one fired tear gas canisters at them, did they? When will the protests come to the U.S.? This is the way…

I commend them. Israel is having its G.W. Bush moment, and these protesters are probably faced with a lot of opposition, given the results of the recent election.

And speaking of Tristan, there is a campaign over at link to palsolidarity.org
to raise funds for his medical expenses. He's had 3 brain surgeries at an Israeli hospital, and I guess his case is just another Israeli fiasco for which the international community is expected to pick up the tab.

The lack of organization in America is appalling (or maybe it just seems that way because Mondoweissers have seen such progress in recent months). Why isn't there a coalition under an umbrella group like the awkward-sounding but highly effective Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations (link to conferenceofpresidents.org

I once again call on Phil and Adam to consider being the driving force. Mondoweiss is not simply a website, it's a movement, and their efforts to change the course of history should be embodied in a dues-paying organization of which the website is one component of membership. I'd pay a few hundred to be part of this movement and when you start looking at tens of thousands yearning to be part of something bigger than themselves (see the Obama campaign-contribution phenomenon), the zeitgeist is primed for it.

Good idea. Don't leave out Martillo. He can be your spokesman. Though he probably needs all his cash in his battle against "Judonia".
Weiss isn't making any money from this fiasco, you should send him a few quid. It will cheer him up when he watches his pal Goldberg on Meet the Press.

does this "non zionist" khenin shout out, "israel has no right to exist"?

At least Weiss is not a traitor like Goldberg.
