Netanyahu says Labor will bring ISIS to Jerusalem

on 35 Comments

On Saturday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released on Facebook a ISIS inspired campaign video in which his Likud party suggests that a vote for his opponents will lead to Israel’s takeover by the Islamic terror group.

The video shows a white pickup truck hauling gunmen in black balaclavas who are waving ISIS flags as they pull up to a sedan with an Israeli driver. Bearded fighters dressed in fatigues inside the vehicle roll down their window and ask the Israeli, “How do we drive to Jerusalem?” Their car has an election sticker on the rear with the slogan for the Zionist Camp, the union of Labor and Hatnua, Netnayahu’s main contenders in Israel’s upcoming March elections.

“Go to the left,” responds the Israeli driver. The ISIS fighters speed away firing rounds into the air.

On a black screen bullet markings barrel out the warning, “The left will surrender to terror,” closing with Netanyahu’s electoral catchphrase, “It’s us, or them. Only the Likud. Only Netanyahu.”

The video is sampled with the Arabic song “Ghorbah” by the Jordanian-based Palestinian hip-hop group Torabyeh. The section audible in Netanyahu’s ad is:

My status is deformed because of my art
My poetry for my people is meaningless
My departure from earth is only a matter of time

I want to be buried in the same graveyard my grandfather is in
Ever since I was young I dreamt of being a soldier
With time I discovered whom I belong to
Mahmoud Abbas, Fatah, Hamas or Jabha

Despite the rough/tough sound in “Ghorbah,” the song is not a call to arms, nor does it have anything to do with ISIS. The excerpt used in Netanyahu’s video cuts out the lyrics, “I am not a killer but I can commit a crime to protect my rights. For my country my pen is writing for me.” Moreover, Netanyahu’s version fades out the audio just after Palestinian political parties are listed. The next lines are: “they are all mercenaries. I can no longer deal with these people living a lie. The picture is nice but the background is destroyed.”

If Netanyahu’s video had continued longer, the lyrics would have gone on to show the song is a lamentation on displacement and dispossession:

Now I come to you to share my pain
Because I felt that me and you are the same
The projects in Amman are throwing us around
Mother nature hold me and return me back inside you
Because all this construction above you is adding to my pain.

Within hours of Netanyahu publishing his video online, Torabyeh gave a response also on Facebook. The band threatened legal action for use of the song without permission, as well as endangering the musicians by insinuating they drafted a pro-ISIS anthem, “which is consequently putting the group’s members lives at risk,” Torabyeh said.

Here is their response in full:

In the last propaganda video released by the Israeli Likud Party which is headed by the criminal Benjamin Netanyahu (Zionist right-wing), the song called “Ghorbah” by Torabyeh has been used. The propaganda video shows units from ISIS waving a flag of the Islamic State in an SUV while asking for directions to Jerusalem. This is followed by the Zionist answering “Turn left ” to the question and the video ends with the sentence “the left surrenders to terrorism.”

The use of the song in the particular context cannot be considered anything but deliberate propaganda of the Zionist right for the purpose of electoral propaganda and attacking the so-called Zionist “left wing”. Furthermore, it implicates the Torabyeh group by containing serious accusations of terrorism and association with ISIS which is consequently putting the group’s members lives at risk.

We strongly condemn and reject this ruthless infringement of intellectual property rights and the distortion of the reputation of Torabyeh. What is more, we reject all forms of cooperation with the Zionist enemy (right and left) and the fascist expansionist colonial entity. Torabyeh group will take all necessary legal action against those responsible.

Victory for the Palestinian people and the Arab against colonialism, Glory to the martyrs

This is ironic. We know that Israel has been assisting ISIS, by its attacks on the secular Assad forces alone. How in the world does Netanyahu attack Syria’s Assad, but not ISIS, and then run tv commercials implying that he alone can stop ISIS? When has Israel EVER attacked ISIS or Al Qaeda, and when has ISIS or Al Qaeda EVER attacked Israel? Even the UN acknowledges that Israel has been in contact with ISIS. When will the mainstream media start talking about this odd relationship?

Atlanta, last night the Sayyid made it very easy to understand what ISIS, Nusra, Qaeda are about, he said they are all one organization that had leadership problems in Syria but that now they are all in it together as one ombined force.

      From Breitbart last July:

rgeting Muslim ‘Infidels,’ Not Interested in Fighting Israel Now

      by AWR HAWKINS9 Jul 201422

The Islamic State (IS)–formerly the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS)–says it is not interested in fighting Israel at this time. Rather, its focus remains fixed on dealing with “Muslims who have become infidels.”

According to Arutz Sheva 7, after being asked about Israel, a spokesman for IS tweeted, “The greatest answer to this question is the Qur’an, where Allah speaks about the nearby enemy–those Muslims who have become infidels–as they are more dangerous than those which were already infidels.”

The spokesman explained that IS’s continued focus on “Muslims who have become infidels” is more important than the “conquest of Jerusalem” because the conquest of Jerusalem will involve more than raw force.

He reportedly said, “Jerusalem will not be freed until we get rid of the idolaters, such as the wealthy families and the players appointed by the colonial government and who control the fate of the Islamic world.”

… which makes it unholy how the West is attacking ISIS positions in Iraq while it is arming Nusra in Syria. The al Qaeda connection in all of this is folklore. Nusra has accepted the authority of ISIS over it and has therefore assumed ISIS’ mission.

      • Kay24 on February 17, 2015, 1:12 am

Isn’t it strange that ISIS is NOT interested in Israel at all? They are killing mostly Muslims, setting sects against each other, operating in Arab countries, and seems disinterested in Israel?
That sort of goes against the ideology.

Isn’t it strange that Israel never joins coalitions to help fight terrorism, unseen dangers, and not a single Jewish life risked for Afghanistan and Iraq. Strange…..

Nasrallah raised the same question, Kay, he said the prime objective od ISIS/Nusra is taking over Islam’s 2 most holy cities, Mecca and Medina as without them, the self-declared caliph cannot be a caliph. The third, which is Jerusalem is of absolutely no importance to them. Caliph Baghdadi just designated emirs for Mecca and Medina. Nasrallah insinuated that Hizbullah is also battling ISIS in Iraq. He said that thanks to the Iraqi army, clans and the Sunni, Shia and Kurdish militias fighting there, ISIS has been prevented ftom reaching Saudia and Kuwait. He also said that all the great fighting happening in Iraq is with no thanks due to the US that’s been bombing ISIS durng the day and re-arming it at night. The US is still refusing to provide the Iraqi military with arms and munitions eventhough they have been paid for them and that whatever the Iraqis are fighting with is from help being provided by Iran.

        From TIME Magazine

The Enemy of My Enemy: Iran Arms Kurds in Fight Against ISIS
        Rebecca Collard / Erbi Aug. 27, 2014

A Kurdish Peshmerga fighter stands guard at the Bakirta frontline near the town of Makhmur, south of Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan on Aug. 27, 2014.

As Tehran sends arms to aid forces in Iraqi Kurdistan, some question its motives

When Iran’s foreign minister Mohammed Javad Zarif popped into Erbil yesterday, he announced Iran had joined—or perhaps beat— the U.S. in providing new weapons to Kurdish forces.

Now, it seems Iran beat them to the punch. “We asked for weapons and Iran was the first country to provide us with weapons and ammunition,” said Kurdish President Massoud Barzani in a press conference. That Iran apparently got weapons to the Kurds more quickly than the U.S. may be because of Tehran’s strategic interests in arresting the march of ISIS.

… Kurdish officials, too, said Iran had merely provided material help. “We haven’t invited them to govern here, we just asked them for support,” said Sadi Ahmed Pira, a politburo member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. Pira says so far they have just received light arms from Iran and that this support is welcomed and needed for the fight against the militants.

… Baghdad may also view a stronger Kurdish alliance with Iran as a threat. The Kurds’ long-term objective is a Kurdistan independent of Iraq, and it looks as if they will come out of the conflict better armed, with stronger international influence and recognition than before.

Although the peshmerga initially faltered in combat with ISIS, they have proved themselves the most capable army in Iraq — though that is barely an achievement — and now see themselves as filling a vacuum left by the rapidly dwindling Iraqi forces. “If Baghdad is unable to provide security then they will have to tolerate the international community giving us the arms to do it,” said Pira.

Kurdistan already has strong economic relations with Iran and the Kurds have so far managed to juggle their alliance with the U.S., with close ties with their Iranian neighbors. And the U.S. now finds itself on the same side as another regional foe against ISIS, just as it has with Syria. American and Iranian weapons will be firing side-by-side in the hands of Kurdish peshmerga fighters.

… That may trouble the U.S. but Osman, the analyst, says that regional bonds are shifting. The regional and international dynamics are moving to more “natural” alliances than historic ones, he says. “The last alliance that ISIS will eventually break is the Gulf and America alliance. The Gulf states, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and others, are all remaining silent on the crimes of ISIS, just watching,” he said. These Sunni Gulf Arab states have long been some of the U.S.’s strongest regional allies against the likes of Syria and Iran, but those bonds are now being strained. “ISIS has created a new reality in the Middle East.”

“Isn’t it strange that ISIS is NOT interested in Israel at all? They are killing mostly Muslims, setting sects against each othe”

Kay, although ISIS is not averse to killing anyone that gets in its way as we saw with the Yazidis, the Kurds, Christians and so on, but they are mostly out to set the Sunni on the path of righteousness, as they see it; that’s what Wahhabism is about. Given an equal opportunity to kill a righteous Shia and and a wayward Sunni, they’ll chose the Sunni because they’re supposed to know better. They feel the others were born in sin and their time will come after.

  7. David Doppler on February 15, 2015, 11:15 am

Well, Labor should counter that Netanyahu-Likud-Neocons and their disastrous policies gave birth to ISIS and continuously make it stronger.

The left will surrender to terror.
    It’s us, or them.
    Only the Likud.
    Only Netanyahu.

When you treat Shi’a, Sunni, Arabs, Persians, Lebanese, Jordanians, Saudis, Egyptians, etc., etc., as “them” and equate “them” with “terror,” you are a simple fear-monger. By attempting to implode the governments of Iraq, Iran, Syria, deliberately imposing chaotic conditions on their people, you subvert their unalienable right to self-government, and you replace it with colonialism or imperialism, two systems that history has shown always fail in the long run. And you become the catalyst for native resistance that history has almost always shown will prevail in the long run.

The spell these words appear to have over the Israelis must be broken, and, it seems, by the international community.

Perhaps Netanyahu should be arrested for war crimes when he arrives in the US to deliver his speech. That would change the initiative.

        “Well, Labor should counter…”

Of course they should! After all, this is just the healthy give-and-take of Israeli politics. Certainly there’s a clever message they can deploy to counter the charge that the left is delivering the country into the hands of terrorists. All in a day’s campaigning. And when the election is done, they can all play “Let’s make a deal”

  9. Walid on February 15, 2015, 2:53 pm

“Netanyahu says Labor will bring ISIS to Jerusalem”

Actually, it’s Netanyahu that’s bringing Jerusalem to ISIS. He’s already treated about 1500 of ISIS’ soldiers in mobile hospitals set up for this purpose on the Golan, visited them there and had his photo taken by their bedside, or treated them in Israeli hospitals for the more serious injuries, trained them and supplied them with cash and arms and sent them back into battle in Syria. Netanyahu has been providing them with air cover against advancing Syrian soldiers and providing them with aerial reconnaisasance data.

Hard to believe that Israelis can’t see through his lies.

    • Atlantaiconoclast on February 15, 2015, 3:52 pm

Well 99% of Americans have no clue about the fact that Israel is supporting ISIS. Those of us who know what we are up against should be making this headline news, at least on sites like this. Why isnt Amy Goodman and other gatekeepers talking about this?

      • Walid on February 16, 2015, 1:52 am

How many times has the US accidently dropped supplies and arms into ISIS’ laps? The US that was able to put a man on the moon and that has satellites that can pick the numbers off car license plates is accidently dropping stuff in ISIS held areas. The last batch of $400 million’s worth of arms was dropped where?

      • piotr on February 17, 2015, 10:49 am

ISIS is an organization, but it is also used as a label that of late has more shine than al-Qaeda, but as a label it is just a new, improved version. I call those people peripatetic jihadists because from this perspective you can see: (1) causes of dissatisfaction, where I would add traumatic stress disorder that leads to extreme radicalization (2) ideology and organizations, the latter is quite fluid (3) flows of people, money and arms.

So Israel is not supplying ISIS, but Jordan and Israel seem to jointly prop what is basically al-Nusra of southern Syria, “moderate part of al-Qaeda”, while Turkey is a source and conduit of money and arms to the same in the northern Syria. There al-Nusra has a patchy relationship with ISIS which is much stronger, so they have to surrender part of the get to ISIS. ISIS took some territory from al-Nusra and recently they gave it back, which hints some kind of exchange. People kidnapped in areas controlled by al-Nusra were subsequently executed by ISIS which also points to some kind of exchange.

In short term, the result suit Israel just fine. In the long term, there is a pattern of terrible civil wars terminating with a clear winner. Once that happens, local superiority of Israel will be very much reduced, and it is really an open question how much. Until recently there were speeches and, I guess, actual plans, that the West should not allow any side to win, but now the effects of the civil wars (Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya etc.) are accumulating and they are becoming intolerable, so we observe gradual but deep change of the attitude in the West.

Netanyahu and GOP have a common cause in preventing the recognition of reality to take hold, and they will clearly do their best. The main point is that the fate of the world should be decided in the corridors of Washington D.C. and the spoils should go to those who have most influence there. The counter-point presented by the Administration is that some aspects of the reality should also intrude on our decision making, however slightly — they are clearly not overdoing it!

      • Walid on February 17, 2015, 11:27 am

Piotr, ISIS and Nusra are on the same team, like the FBI and CIA. Nusra are the ones trained by the US and Jordan supposedly as the “Syrian opposition”. The $400 million’s worth of US arms ended up with Nusra. The dramatic head-chopping department is managed by ISIS. Both are being manipulated. Notice how they suddenly turned on the Egyptians after Putin’s visit to Cairo?

Netanyahu says Labor will bring ISIS to Jerusalem

What Netanyahu doesn’t say is that hateful and immoral men like him brought Zio-supremacism – including theft, occupation and colonization of Palestinian land; oppression, torture and murder of Palestinians; and a religion-supremacist “Jewish State” – to all of (Mandate) Palestine (including Jerusalem).

Netanyahu is one ginormous and international train wreck.

If the following information is true, this is great news for US citizens and US national security:

“As a result of the recent tension between the United States and Israel, the White House has begun to limit the scope, quality and depth of the information it shares with Jerusalem about the progress of the talks with Iran about its nuclear program, senior Israeli officials involved in the issue have told Haaretz.

The administration apparently believes that Israel and the U.S. now have a conflict of interests regarding the Iranian issue, the source said. While U.S. President Barack Obama wants to make every effort to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran, Netanyahu is doing everything he can to block one.

The Americans fear that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make use of the information given to Israel for his own political needs, and will try to undermine the talks between Iran and the big powers.

Another major reason is the fear of leaks. In recent weeks the Americans felt that information given to Israel about the talks – like, for example, the new proposal Iran had submitted regarding the centrifuges it would be allowed to retain – is finding its way to the Israeli media as part of what looks like an effort by Netanyahu to scuttle the talks.

The senior source said that the Americans continue to meet with and update their Israeli counterparts, but are passing on information about the talks “at a lower resolution.”
President Reuven Rivlin added his voice to the critics of Netanyahu’s planned speech to Congress on Sunday.

“If we find it necessary to speak on relevant international platforms about the risks and dangerous threats facing us, then we are required even more to speak directly, patiently and in Hebrew to our citizens at home,” Rivlin said.

“The citizens of our own country take precedence. What we have to say, let us say, at least, here at home as well.””

    • eljay on February 15, 2015, 6:16 pm

“If we find it necessary to speak on relevant international platforms about the risks and dangerous threats facing us, then we are required even more to speak directly, patiently and in Hebrew to our citizens at home,” Rivlin said.

Bibi is a big bluffer. He has tried everything he can to win this election. He must be pretty desperate. A good leader will not have to resort to these tactics. He has even invited himself
to give a war mongering speech, just to impress his naive people, who will most probably believe the lies. I guess the Left must be intimidated by him, and cannot stand up to the tyrant and his deceiving ways. Shame the people of Israel cannot see through these tactics.
