Thank you – a little earlier than we expected

Just about noon Eastern time last Saturday, we announced a challenge to the Mondoweiss community from one generous donor, who chose to remain anonymous. Our dedicated supporter issued the following pledge: he would match, dollar for dollar, all gifts up to a total of $5,000.

We’re delighted and grateful to announce that within 48 hours, Mondoweiss supporters met the challenge. That means that $5,000 in contributions from dozens of readers was effectively doubled! All funds raised through this challenge—and throughout the 2017 summer campaign, “They Fear The Truth: We Report It”—have been earmarked for use to pay freelance journalists on the ground in Palestine for their vital reporting.

As of today, we’re about $9,000 short of our total campaign goal of $75,000. Whenever we run a fund drive, we try to make sure every message includes not only a request for your support, but also meaningful content that illuminates the conflict. But we understand that for some readers, our appeals for contributions distract from core news coverage. So we’ve decided to do something unconventional in the world of fundraising: thank all our supporters, and wind down the drive a bit earlier than planned.

Any donations that come in by the end of July will be devoted to the purpose of this campaign: sustaining brave freelance reporters and photographers. And we do have one or two more examples to share of how Israel and its supporters have been lashing out in fear of truthful coverage of events on the ground. So you can expect another message to close out the series on how accurate, independent journalism threatens the effort to normalize and whitewash Israel for public consumption.

But as of today, we won’t be soliciting full-force as we have been. In other words, we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. With heartfelt, uninterrupted thanks for your support.

Mondo folks are doing an incredible job of educating the public…at least those into facts. Thank you.
