They try to silence me. I continue to tell the truth.

Your support sends an important message to Palestinians: that you want to hear from us.

Every reporter knows working under pressure is part of their job, but for journalists reporting from Gaza, it is different. We work while being under attack.

It’s not easy. During the latest Israeli attack on Gaza, I had to go out and interview surviving families. I walked the empty streets, conscious of the imminent danger of being bombed. I did it because I know how important my work is. Mondoweiss is the only place I’ve worked that is completely independent and centers Palestinian voices in its coverage. My reporting is educating the world on Israeli atrocities in Gaza.

We take incredible risks to bring you the facts.

We need to raise $125,000 before July 9th. Can you help me and my colleagues document the truth for the world to see? Chip in with a $50, $25, or even $10 donation. Every contribution will be matched dollar to dollar up to $45,000 by generous donors.

The best way to support Mondoweiss is with a recurring donation. Consider becoming a monthly donor and keep our work sustainable! We still need 54 monthly donors to reach our target of new recurring donors for 2023.

In Palestine, Israel targets journalists to prevent the world from learning about the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Just last week, we saw two different instances of journalists being shot at, and one injured, by snipers. These attacks are intended to produce a chilling effect among reporters. If you tell the truth, you will be treated as a military threat and become a target.

During the latest attack, doing my job felt different. I am a father now. I needed a long time to say goodbye to my family and my five-month-old son. I hugged him every time before I left home like it was the last time. When I was out, hearing the Israeli drones, I thought about his life and what would happen to him if I got hit while on the street. I didn’t feel safe and that I truly survived until I was back home with my family.

Your support sends an important message to Palestinians: that you want to hear from us. With your help, Mondoweiss makes it possible!

I take these risks because I feel the need to capture the first reactions from survivors. These reactions sometimes can’t be expressed in words and are only reflected in their faces. Journalists and photographers, we continue to expose ourselves to danger because we believe that Gazans’ stories and their emotions must be shared with the world in their voice, not distorted by journalists from foreign press.

As a reporter, this is how I see it. All of us in Gaza share the same risk, constantly being under attack. Through my work, I try to share something meaningful out of the risk I live every day. You, as a reader and supporter, also have a role to play. Do the voices of oppressed people who live under unstoppable Israeli attacks deserve a platform to advocate for an end to the madness? If the answer is yes, please donate generously.

Thank you for your support.

Mondoweiss does a good job of bringing dynamics on the ground. Building a state also requires getting to the political ideas that can build that state and bring closure to this tragedy.
