Tonight I was having an argument with myself about Jewish responsibility for Israel's brutality. Well that part's over. Gaza has awakened the Jewish conscience. There is less and less Jewish responsibility by the minute; the Jewish community is at last loudly divided, the Israel lobby is getting stick from within the Jewish community, Jewish peace groups are taking on Netanyahu. I'm hopeful. Though yes, the statelessness and oppression of Palestinians must be considered in large part a Jewish achievement– of American Jewish leadership, acting with the community's broad support.

Jewish
actress Miriam Margolyes was one of five actors reading the voices of
an Israeli parent and a friend about how much to tell a child about
Israel's actions. They delivered such coded lines as: "Tell them we're
better haters", "Tell her dead or alive, her family love her", "Tell
her it is the land God gave us."
An exultant Ms Margolyes said
after the panel discussion that followed the reading: "It gives you
hope that we can talk to each other across these divides."
She
said she believed Israel had lost its way, but to rousing applause
added: "I'm not a politician, I'm just a really good actress."
It
was also a triumph for lobby group Australians For Palestine, the
Melbourne organisers of the controversial work by British playwright
Caryl Churchill, that the reading went ahead.
Margolyes, whose
participation had brought a backlash from a Jewish welfare
organisation, said last night that the State Library was to be
applauded for taking the booking. "People tried to stop it," she said.
Fabulous. Congratulations to Margolyes for giving her incomparable voice to peace. Margolyes is indeed a brilliant actor–just for starts, see Rowan Atkinson's "Blackadder" series and "James and the Giant Peach" with Joanna Lumley–who's also been speaking out on events of conscience. Phil's right. People of all backgrounds and beliefs are finding courage to stand up for fairness to the Palestininans.

Name one Jewish organization that is NOT a gang of pro-israel psychopaths. I'm not talking about a completely marginal organization like Ta'ayush, which 99% of Americans have never heard of. I mean a prominent organization with significant public visibility, fund-raising, resources, etc. There are none. (And for G_d's sake don't hit me with J Street!) The Jewish community is overwhelmingly pro-Israel and pro-genocide. There are unquestionably a few scattered Jewish organizations of great virtue and courage and we ought to be inspired by them and certainly they deserve support. But it is quite a stretch to draw from that the conclusion that the Jewish community is "divided." I wish it were. Frankly, I'd like to see the anti-Israel Jews run the pro-Israel Jews off a cliff. Until we manage that, our people are contaminated.

the earlier present real Jim Haygood's name has been hijacked for a long time now. It's the only name still used occasionally from earlier larger spoofing routines. A while he was still around less frequently, and occasionally pointed it out himself, that this wasn't him, than he stopped "chatting" with us here altogether. But pay attention, he may return. You surely will notice the difference, if you don't mix him up with this "voice". The difference between other spoofing actions and the use of Jim's name, is that it is used to get the hawkishly pro-Israel point over. All other spoofing actions seemed to have a different pattern, it were usually overt outing -the-perceived-antisemite actions, that is, the name was used to show readers: "what s/he really thinks". … I think, Jim was ranked as an opinion leader and got a "special treatment". That's what it felt like to me. I missed the comment above, admittedly. But the real, earlier Jim would never be censored by Phil. Or I can't imagine it, from what I have read.

I saw the comment, it was a slur on Phil and how he runs his blog. It was definitely not the "real" Jim Haygood who was driven away by this malicious impersonator.
