We can’t get enough of Jennifer Rubin here, the Israel-ultra who was given a blog at the essentially-neoconservative Washington Post. Rubin’s Sunday piece repeatedly puts the West Bank in Israel, showing once again that the Likudniks in the American Establishment are the greatest advocates of anyone in the U.S. for a single-state future. Rubin:
Last week, while protesters battled autocratic regimes, the United Nations chose to focus its ire on Israel’s settlements in the West Bank. It seems that no matter what else happens in the 50 or so Muslim-majority countries around the world the so-called international community remains obsessed with the dispensation of this portion of the only Jewish state.
Now here she completely misrepresents the placement of the wall and suggests it’s on the Green Line when leaving Jerusalem. It’s not. Her reference to “an agent at a U.S. border” is fanciful; U.S. border agents aren’t located in Canada.
So when one leaves Jerusalem, crosses the Green Line — a cement wall and a checkpoint (not unlike the set-up for an agent at a U.S. border) — and travels up and down the highways of Samaria (the portion of the West Bank extending north), you realize how little non-Israelis know about the Jews who live in territory that is the focal point of so much international attention.
Next she ignores the violent suppression of nonviolent demonstrations in the West Bank and the recent night-time seizure of Palestinian children in Nabi Saleh. Or is she suggesting that these children are “terrorists”?
Israel’s official interaction with West Bank Palestinians is limited to intelligence gathering and extraction of terrorists.
And here she’s back to putting the West Bank inside Israel.
We stood outside his home, a few miles from Jerusalem. As with so much else in Israel, security, religion and history are intertwined.
