Recent Israeli efforts to fight BDS smell of deep despair, which is giving rise to hopeless aggression, even worse bullying and patently irrational measures that can only help BDS to grow in the coming few years. Particularly noteworthy are reports on the Knesset’s anti-BDS caucus meeting which convey the universal sense in Israel of failure to stem the BDS movement’s growth and the admission that the impact of BDS may be growing beyond control.

We are delighted to share that because of hundreds of generous donations, we not only met but blew past the goal of $90,000 for our year-end campaign, Journalism That Powers Justice. Including the Challenge Fund the campaign total as of today is $150,478 which is almost 50 percent more than any past campaign. We are awed by this tangible vote of confidence from Mondoweiss supporters.

Bethany Koval, a 16-year-old high school student in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, was targeted for her political activism yesterday. Koval’s commentary of the Gaza beach bombing resulted in her being called down to the principle’s office, intimidated, threatened with legal action. As Koval tweeted her experience, activists on social media swiftly rallied in support and started a hashtag, #IStandwithBenny. News of her harassment spread like wildfire nationally and internationally.
