Earlier this week we presented you, our readers, with a challenge. Five donors were offering up to $3,000 to match every gift we received over 24 hours and I have GREAT news – not only did you meet the match, your generosity and enthusiasm exceeded it! To be specific, we raised over $7,500 in 24 hours, bringing our total to over $10,000 after the match. Thank you!

Just a few weeks ago, Mondoweiss launched a $60,000 summer fund drive to prepare for the upcoming challenges facing accurate, responsible journalism about Palestine and the movement for its liberation. Thanks to hundreds of generous supporters, we have met and surpassed our goal for this campaign. As we enter our new fiscal year September 1, we have enough resources to tackle the mission that drives us: reporting the truth from Palestine and Israel with as much detail, scope and context as possible to as many people as possible around the world.

We hear regularly from people like you, who value the reporting and analysis provided by Mondoweiss. But this summer, as we push to raise the funds for more news, there are hundreds of past supporters we haven’t heard from yet. If you give $25 or more by August 10, we’ll send you a Mondoweiss poster showcasing the work of talented Palestinian photojournalists. Just think: if everyone who reads Mondoweiss regularly could give today, the investment would total tens of thousands of dollars. And all the gifts we receive in response to this message will go directly toward paying Palestinian reporters, photographers and videographers.

We are very excited to announce the second publication in our series Mondoweiss in Print: Reading Maimonides in Gaza, by Marilyn Garson. Between 2011 and 2015, Garson lived through two wars as she worked for Mercy Corps and UNRWA in Gaza. Reading Maimonides In Gaza is her incredible memoir of that tumultuous time. An expanded 25-page version of Garson’s story Mondoweiss originally published online last March, the book includes exclusive new content and provides an intimate and harrowing look at the life-saving work aid organizations did in Gaza during two Israeli attacks. Mixed in with this reporting is Garson’s own process of coming to understand her connection to Judaism while under fire from Israeli warplanes. A portion of the proceeds from Reading Maimonides In Gaza will go to support We Are Not Numbers, a Gaza-based writing project for Palestinian youth.

We are grateful for every dollar you invest and every action you take to bring the world the truth from Palestine.
