The Palestinian health ministry announced in a statement early on Thursday that Israeli forces killed at least 62 Palestinians and wounded 91 in the last 24 hours. The ministry said during this time that Israeli forces committed six massacres across the Gaza Strip.

In Gaza City, Israeli bombings targeted two family houses in the vicinity of al-Shifa Hospital, killing 28 Palestinians. In the Shujaiyah neighborhood, east of Gaza, Israeli bombings killed three Palestinians.

In the al-Zaitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, Israeli strikes on aid distribution volunteers killed four Palestinians, while eight aid truck drivers were killed by Israeli bombings while attempting to reach northern Gaza.

Israeli army says it has killed 200 Palestinians in and around al-Shifa Hospital

The Israeli army announced in a statement that its troops have killed 200 Palestinians in al-Shifa Hospital and its vicinity since its second raid of al-Shifa started 11 days ago.

The army statement said that the Palestinians killed were “terrorists,” adding that it continues to fight Palestinian resistance factions in the al-Shifa area.

The latest victim of Israeli fire was Palestinian journalist Mohammad Abu Skheil, a reporter for the ‘Sawt al-Quds’ local radio, who was reported dead after being shot by Israeli soldiers in the surroundings of al-Shifa. Abu Skheil’s death raises the number of journalists killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7 to 197.

Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance groups announced they continue to fight Israeli forces in al-Shifa’s vicinity. On Wednesday, Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released footage of fighters targeting Israeli armored troops with anti-armor projectiles, indicating that it was taken in al-Shifa’s vicinity.

Israeli forces raided al-Shifa in November and forcibly evacuated medical staff, patients, and families taking refuge in the largest hospital complex in the Palestinian territory. Palestinians returned to al-Shifa in February after a brief Israeli withdrawal. Israeli forces raided al-Shifa again 11 days ago.

UNICEF: Israel has bombed 212 schools in Gaza since October 7

Around 80% of all schools in the Gaza Strip have been damaged to some degree, since the beginning of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip in October, according to a report by UNICEF.

The report indicated that 212 schools were “directly hit” by Israeli strikes, including 53 schools that have been “completely destroyed,” according to satellite imagery.

According to UNICEF, the majority of school damage is concentrated in northern Gaza, where 82% of schools have been damaged or destroyed.

The report also pointed out that 107 of the damaged or destroyed schools are run by UNRWA. The report also noted that 320 schools have been used as shelters by Palestinian families displaced by the war, 188 of which have been hit by Israeli strikes.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian education ministry said in a report that at least 5,800 Palestinian students have been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of the war in October.

Also on Thursday morning, three Israeli settlers were wounded in a shooting attack at an Israeli bus north of Jericho, in the occupied Jordan Valley.

Following the attack, the Israeli army imposed a closure on the city of Jericho and closed the Allenby Bridge crossing, the only border crossing available for Palestinians in the West Bank.

Israeli forces also tightened checkpoint control in the Jordan Valley, inspecting Palestinians’ identity documents.

Maybe Israel is going for 2% of Gaza’s population eliminated? We’re not that far away.

“Annelle Sheline, PhD, served for a year as a foreign affairs officer at the Office of Near Eastern Affairs in the Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.” – here she explains why she’s resigning:

Yet Israel is still planning to invade Rafah, where the majority of people in Gaza have fled; UN officials have described the carnage that is expected to ensue as “beyond imagination.” In the West Bank, armed settlers and Israeli soldiers have killed Palestinians, including US citizens. These actions, which experts on genocide have testified meet the crime of genocide, are conducted with the diplomatic and military support of the US government…as a representative of a government that is directly enabling what the International Court of Justice has said could plausibly be a genocide in Gaza, such work has become almost impossible. Unable to serve an administration that enables such atrocities, I have decided to resign from my position at the Department of State…Whatever credibility the United States had as an advocate for human rights has almost entirely vanished since the war began. Members of civil society have refused to respond to my efforts to contact them. Our office seeks to support journalists in the Middle East; yet when asked by NGOs if the US can help when Palestinian journalists are detained or killed in Gaza, I was disappointed that my government didn’t do more to protect them. Ninety Palestinian journalists in Gaza have been killed in the last five months, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. That is the most recorded in any single conflict since the CPJ started collecting data in 1992.Some have argued that the US lacks influence over Israel. Yet Retired Israeli Maj. Gen. Yitzhak Brick noted in November that Israel’s missiles, bombs and airplanes all come from the US. “The minute they turn off the tap, you can’t keep fighting,” he said. “Everyone understands that we can’t fight this war without the United States. Period.”… I hope that my resignation can contribute to the many efforts to push the administration to withdraw support for Israel’s war, for the sake of the 2 million Palestinians whose lives are at risk and for the sake of America’s moral standing in the world.

Israeli Attack on Rafah Home Kills at Least 18 People, Half of Them Children
DemocracyNow
Mar 26, 2024

“Despite the ceasefire resolution, Israel has continued to pummel the Gaza Strip. A bombing on a house in Rafah killed at least 18 people earlier today, including at least nine children. This is one of their surviving relatives.

Alaa Abdel Latif: “Nine children, the oldest was 8 years old. They all had nothing to do with this. … They fell asleep with the news of the Ramadan ceasefire, only to wake up — they didn’t wake up. They are not here anymore. I have no one left in this world. No one.”

Elsewhere in the Gaza Strip, officials say at least 12 Palestinians died after hundreds swam into the Mediterranean Sea to retrieve aid that had been airdropped northwest of Gaza City.”

I Could Not Stay Silent: Annelle Sheline Resigns from State Dept. over U.S. Gaza Policy
DemocracyNow / Amy Goodman
March 28, 2024

“A State Department official working on human rights issues in the Middle East resigned Wednesday in protest of U.S. support for Israel’s assault on Gaza. Annelle Sheline, who worked as a foreign affairs officer in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, was not planning on publicly resigning, but her colleagues asked her to “please speak out” against the Biden administration’s unconditional support for Israel.”

I have a young daughter, and I thought about, in the future, if she were to ask me, ‘What were you doing when this was happening? You were at the State Department.’ I want to be able to tell her that I didn’t stay silent.” ‘
